At the risk of sounding like a simpleton—or a fool, as Paul put it—I want to relate one simple truth: You’re either on Team Christ or you’re on Team Satan. (Honestly, I hate to even capitalize the evil one’s name.)

In this postmodern world that’s drifting toward transhumanism, binaries are often shunned as being too simplistic—too black and white, too lacking in nuance. Binary truths are viewed as exclusionary, or worse, hateful.

However, as I’ve grown in Christ and God has opened my eyes to the very real spiritual battle we are all in, whether we like it or not, I’ve begun to understand that you are either with Him or against Him. There is no middle ground.

Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30

If you are not actively seeking God and following Christ’s commands, you are very likely on the wrong side of the cosmic battle, even if your intentions are good.

When we accept Christ as our Savior, we are welcomed into the most awesome, wonderful, and loving family. We become part of God’s kingdom as his adopted child, and Jesus is our wise and perfect High Priest.

I want nothing more than to be one of God’s children. I’m sure many of you reading this feel the same.

If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, repented of your sins, turned away from them, and embarked on a new journey with God—you are part of His eternal family. You are on Team Jesus.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:27–28

But even as believers, we sin. During our day-to-day lives, we often fall short. We may even go through periods where we willfully sin.

That’s why we must constantly evaluate our thoughts, motives, and actions to make sure we’re not scoring a goal for the other team.

Even though we are redeemed as God’s children, we can intentionally or unintentionally score for the wrong side. That’s why daily, moment-by-moment repentance is necessary—why we are told to take every thought captive and ask ourselves: “Does this thought honor God?”

Not because God is going to cast us into hell for every unrepented sin, but because as Christ’s beloved sheep, His ambassadors, and eternal members of His kingdom, we ought to strive to be blameless in everything we do.

In other words, we must desire and seek to become more like Christ—every day, moment by moment.

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:12-13

Thankfully, Jesus didn’t leave us here to muddle through it alone. We have the Holy Spirit, the Bible, fellowship with other believers, and prayer to guide us. Our path of sanctification isn’t meant to be one of drudgery, but of joy, gratitude, and self-discovery as we grow to be more like Christ.

We live in dark times. The end is approaching, and time is running out. You don’t have time to waver.

You must choose your side now.
Not tomorrow.
Not in a year.
Now.

Give your life to Christ this very minute, and let your journey begin.
